Dify External Knowledge Adapter

Expose knowledge bases from one Dify instance as a Dify External Knowledge API
for another Dify instance.

Features

• Implements the Dify External Knowledge contract.
• Preserves each source dataset's search and reranking strategy.
• Supports standard chunks, Q&A answers, child chunks, summaries, and metadata filters.
• Uses separate keys for external callers and the source Dataset Service API.
• Does not log query text, API keys, or Authorization headers.

Setup

Install the plugin on the source Dify instance and create an Endpoint Group with:

• : A random shared secret used by the consuming Dify instance.
• : A Dataset API key created on the source Dify instance.
• : The source Dify Service API base, such as
  or .

Verify the Dataset API key before configuring the plugin:

Use HTTPS outside trusted isolated networks.

Usage

On the consuming Dify instance:

1. Add an External Knowledge API.
2. Set the API Endpoint to the plugin Endpoint Group URL without .
3. Set the API Key to the configured .
4. Connect an external knowledge base and set External Knowledge ID to the source
   Dify Dataset UUID.

Dify appends and sends the External Knowledge ID as .
If the source endpoint uses a private address, allow it in the consuming Dify
SSRF proxy policy.

Privacy

Search queries are forwarded only to the configured source Dify Dataset Service
API. The plugin does not persist query text. See PRIVACY.md.
